Description

Our Python coding program is ideal for students that have an interest in learning to code with Python, a text-based coding language.   If your child is currently in Grade 8 this is a good course to get them familiar with Python Coding to help prepare them for Grade 9 where Python is often included in their Grade 9 Math class.

Our Intro to Python (first level) class introduces students to the fundaments of coding with Python including scripts, errors, comments, data types & integers, assigning variables (strings, integers), manipulating variables, converting and swapping data types, data types, if/else, and much more. Students will also create several fun projects as they bring their skills together.

Students continuing on in the Python program will continue to develop additional Python coding experience and knowledge through advanced lessons and projects.

Our Intro to Python program is ideal for students that are 9 – 13 yrs and want to learn Python coding.

Why Kids 9+ Should Learn Python

Teaching Python to children aged 9 to 13 years can have significant benefits, fostering both cognitive development and practical skills. Python, known for its simplicity and readability, is an ideal first programming language. Its clear syntax allows young learners to grasp programming concepts without getting bogged down by complex syntax rules, making it easier for them to translate their ideas into code.

Learning Python at a young age enhances problem-solving skills. Children learn to break down problems into manageable parts and think logically to devise solutions, which are valuable skills beyond programming. Additionally, Python’s wide range of applications—from web development to data science—exposes children to various fields, potentially sparking interest in future careers in technology, science, or engineering.

Moreover, Python fosters creativity. Kids can create their own games, animations, and even simple applications, providing a sense of accomplishment and boosting their confidence. This hands-on approach to learning also makes abstract concepts more concrete and understandable.

In today’s digital age, coding is becoming as fundamental as literacy and numeracy. Introducing Python to kids equips them with essential 21st-century skills, preparing them for a future where technological proficiency is crucial. By learning Python, children not only gain a valuable skill but also learn to approach problems innovatively and creatively.
