Flowlab – Game Competition
We’re excited to launch our first Flowlab Video Game competition!!
Our Flowlab video game competition is a highly enriching experience for kids, offering a unique avenue to explore and enhance their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Flowlab, with its user-friendly interface, empowers young minds to bring their game design ideas to life, fostering a sense of accomplishment and boosting confidence. Our program is packed with learning! Over the course of the program students will learn to build a video game complete with features including: hazards, moving enemies, collectibles, bonus points, sound, animation, game thumbnails, and much more!
Flowlab is Feature Packed
Participating in our competition encourages kids to think critically about game mechanics, logic, and level design, promoting both STEM skills and artistic expression. The collaborative aspect of the competition, where participants can share and play each other’s creations, nurtures a sense of community and mutual learning.
Beyond the thrill of competition, joining a Flowlab competition provides a hands-on, educational journey that can ignite a lifelong passion for game design and technology.
How Does the Game Competition Work?
- Students will learn the basics of Flowlab Game Design in classes 1 – 6 where they will build their first game
- In classes 7 – 9 students will design their own game incorporating the functionality and features used
- Class 10, the final class, students will put the finishing touches in their game, allow others to play, and participate in an awards ceremony
- March 19th Awards Ceremony – parents will be invited into the Studio to see the games that have been created, play the games, and celebrate the winner. The ceremony will begin at 7:15 pm and wrap up by 8 pm.
Prizes
- The top three games will be recognized with a prize with the winning game receiving a Oculus Quest 2.
- All participants will receive a recognition tag
- No cash value for prices
Criteria
- Participants will be given a list of criteria to include in their game based on the functionality covered in the coursework
- Games will be judged against the required criteria, concept/theme for the game, and game playability, and overall fit and finish
- Judging will be done by the Studio owner, and 2 other staff members
Enrollment
- Minimum of 5 students needed for the Game Competition to continue.
- If the minimum threshold is not met, Envision Robotics reserves the right to cancel the competition with participants receiving a refund or offer to enroll in another program
