3D Design and 3D Printing for Kids 8 – 13 yrs

Out of all the technologies available to learn today – 3D printing is at the top of the list.  Why?  3D printing has the power to transform students into creators and makers.  And, these skills will remain valuable throughout their lifetime as 3D printing technology begins to enter the home.

3D printing for kids 8 - 13 years in Toronto and Markham

Our Youth 3D Design and 3D Printing course is designed for older students interested in learning these skills through a project based approach.  Our curriculum contains many different levels and projects that to take students from beginner to advanced.  Each Level consists of 8 classes that are 90 minutes in length, held over 8 consecutive weeks.

Level I of our program will assist students develop the following skills:

  • Gain basic knowledge of 3D printing technology including how to correctly operate and maintain 3D printers
  • Learn the fundamentals of 3D design through a variety of projects
  • Learn tips and tricks for efficient and effective 3D design and 3D printing

Students will 3D model and 3D print 8 different projects in Level I. Projects include backpack / nametags, toothpaste saver, creating models from images, and working models.  Projects are designed to help students learn foundational concepts and techniques.


Level II focuses on more complex 3D modelling and 3D printing projects including designing a toy car as shown below, creating a cookie cutter, catapult, ring, whistle working with rubber filament and more.  Level III includes multi-colour 3D printing and more complex modelling projects.  Contact us to find out more about Levels IV and beyond.
